My Path to Psychiatry
I started my academic journey at the University of Virginia, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with Distinction. While I loved the rigor of mathematics and science, I found myself missing the human element. This realization led me to medical school at Albany Medical College, where I discovered psychiatry—a field that allows me to blend scientific knowledge with deep human connection.
After earning my medical degree, I completed my psychiatry residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Following residency, I served as Senior Chief Resident, where I supervised fellow psychiatrists in training and developed my passion for teaching and mentorship.
Expanding My Approach
Over the past 14 years of practice, I've witnessed how traditional psychiatry, while valuable, often misses important pieces of the puzzle. This led me to pursue advanced training in Integrative and Functional Psychiatry, earning certifications from the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.
I've also trained extensively in specialized psychotherapy approaches, including:
Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) - Level Two
Mindfulness-based interventions
My Philosophy
I believe that healing happens in relationship. While I bring expertise in medications, supplements, and the latest research, what matters most is creating a safe, collaborative space where you feel heard, understood, and supported in making meaningful changes.
Mental health is rarely about a single problem with a single solution. It's about understanding your unique story, identifying what's not working, and building new patterns that support the life you want to live. This requires more than medication—it requires curiosity, compassion, and commitment to the therapeutic process.
Beyond Private Practice
In addition to my private practice, I serve as a consulting psychiatrist at Manhattanville University and supervise psychiatry residents at Montefiore Medical Center. I have previously provided psychiatric evaluations for New York Medical College students. These roles keep me connected to the next generation of mental health providers and ensure I stay current with the latest developments in the field.
Personal Approach
When we work together, you can expect me to be warm, direct, and genuinely curious about your experience. I'll ask thoughtful questions, offer insights when helpful, and collaborate with you to create a treatment plan that feels right for you. My goal is to help you discover your own capacity for healing and growth.
I became a psychiatrist because I wanted to work at the intersection of science and human experience—understanding not just brain chemistry, but how thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life circumstances all contribute to mental health.
